Thoughts on cooking, and how to pursue it as a hobby in Orange County California?

So I'm a 17 year old male as of now 18 in a month, and I love cooking just something about it makes me feel good. My question is, are their any institutions or places where I can learn for fun, that don't cost a lot, because I am also a bio major in college
