When do Buck Moth Caterpillars go away?

When I moved here a year ago we were apparently in the middle of Buck Moth season. I got stung by one that was hidden (picked up some rope outside and it was on it and ended up in hospital. Now I have to carry an epi pen around). My section of Algiers is thick with them this year, especially my tree lined street. So when do these damn things die out?
